We are captivated by decor items that embody a sense of playfulness and possess the adaptability to complement various moods and environments. The Stoff Nagel candle holder completely fits that bill and has deservedly served as an inspiration for decor designers and remained a design staple for decades. The iconic form coupled with its extraordinary capacity to metamorphose and stack into different configurations, or interlock with other Stoff Nagel candle holders for a more magnificent effect, showcases the true wonders of its design. We were fortunate to obtain one with a captivating brutalist texture, adding an extra layer of intrigue to an already stunning and imaginative piece.
The story behind the STOFF Nagel brand and its iconic candle holder is truly remarkable. The Nagel family, affected by the aftermath of World War II, began creating art from war remnants to rebuild their livelihood. Hans Nagel, inspired by his father's work, met artist Werner Stoff, and together they conceived the idea of a sculptured candle holder with three finger-like holes. The candle holder represented a departure from the status quo and became a symbol of art and individual expression. It was launched successfully in the late 1960s, bringing fame to the Nagel family. Recently, Danish design company 'STOFF Copenhagen' has revived the iconic piece, reintroducing it to homes worldwide while honoring the original design.
