Melbourne-based ceramic artist Tantri Mustika creates pieces at the intersection of ancient pottery forms and contemporary expression. Working from her Carnegie studio, she transforms stoneware clay into sculptural vessels and wall art that feel both timeless and deeply personal.

Tantri's practice spans carved vessels, marbled wall flowers, and decorative forms inspired by ancient pottery traditions. Her recent work explores themes of destiny and transformation—guided by her mother's words that our paths are already written in the stars.

The carving technique she employs, known as "ukiran" in Indonesian, involves incising patterns directly into clay to create organic motifs of growth and blooming. Gold lustre details throughout add depth and a celestial quality. Her wall flowers offer a more intimate scale—hand-stained ceramic pieces with marbled surfaces designed to hang simply. The Relic range represents her modern take on ancient forms, where vessels cross the line between functionality and pure ornament.

Every piece is entirely handmade in stoneware clay with glazes, ceramic stains, and gold lustre. The resulting variations in texture and finish aren't limitations—they give each work its character, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike.
